The Bachchan family is going to give Holi celebrations a miss this year too, due to the death of a close relative of family friend Amar Singh and the recent Pune blast, which killed 17 people.

"We do not celebrate again this year. Primarily because of the death of a close relative of our family friend Amar Singhji, but also we do not feel comfortable in celebrating when our own have lost lives in the Pune blast recently," megastar Amitabh Bachchan posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com Saturday night, from his Prateeksha residence.

The first family of Bollywood also skipped the festival celebrations last year as a mark of respect to the 26/11 terror attack victims and did not celebrate the same in 2008 due to Amitabh`s mother Teji Bachchan`s death.

The 67-year-old actor, however, did greet his fans for the festival.

"My wishes and those of my family remain, however, with those that do bring in this festival, a festival that fills us with the joy of achievement and change and produce," Big B wrote.

"Happy Holi! And may the colours bright and beautiful ever remain with you in celebration. May it bring peace and calm and may it become the turning point for good tidings," he added.

Bachchan pariwar are coming together in yet another ad film

The young couple of Bachchan pariwar are coming together in yet another ad film.

Tarun Mansukhani who gave us ‘Dostana’ has directed this one while Dino Morea has produced it.

Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan were recently in Filmistan Studios shooting for the project. And it was moment of old times for the hot jodi….

It was at this very place where the two stars first came together for the film ’Dhai Akshar Prem Ke’, 11 years ago.

With a nostalgic feel, Abhishek penned on his social networking page, “Then, I would have never dreamt that the next time we shoot here would be as husband and wife. How time flies, how lives change.”

The actor also expressed his happiness to act for the director again. Wrote Abhishek, “Great to step in front of his camera again. He’s great. And we’re all set!” Then in his usual jovial manner, he remarked, “The wife is looking her usual stunning self, and me....... Well, I’m looking like Shrek’s cousin.”

former Miss India Universe has bagged opposite Abhishek Bachchan

She’s on an exalted dais, alright. Sarah Jane Dias , former Miss India Universe has bagged ’Crooked’ opposite Abhishek Bachchan which is to be canned in Greece.

Hundreds of auditions later, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar zeroed in on the sassy lass. Incidentally, she’s the one who played the lost and found sweetheart in the catchy Saif Ali Khan ad.

"I had not gone there to audition for the main lead," reveals Sarah in a newspaper chat," but they liked me and asked me to audition for it." Reportedly, she bowled over Sidhwani and Akhtar with her performance … and sashayed out with a three film deal, no less!

Reportedly, ’Crooked’, directed by Abhinay Deo will spotlight Sarah in three different phases and producer Sidhwani is confident that, "she’s got a terrific spark in her."

The gal from Muscat turned a VJ and model later, going on to win the Miss India Contest in 2007. Presently, Sarah’s taking diction lessons from Shabana Azmi and picking up the finer nuances of histrionics from her. "I haven’t met Abhishek as yet, but we will probably be doing a workshop together," says Sarah.

Abhishek ’Sirji’ Bachchan has now become a tree to promote Idea Cellular’s new ’Green Planet’ campaign.

With global warming becoming a hot debate topic, Idea’s Sirji is advocating ’Use Mobile, Save Paper’ to ’save the planet’.

The new Idea TVC showcases how the mobile phone can be used as an efficient tool to read daily newspapers, generate e-bills, make payments and transactions, issue e-tickets and boarding passes; thereby saving tonnes of paper everyday.

Brand Ambassador Abhishek Bachchan, playing the role of an agonized ’tree’ this time, strikes the idea of using mobile phone to save paper, and therefore, the greenery around him. As more and more people switch to their mobile screens, from everyday usage of paper, the tree regains life and leaves the audience with a simple message - ’Use Mobile, Save Paper’.

Speaking about the campaign, Pradeep Shrivastava, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular said, ’’Environment’ as a subject touches all, but gets attention only at strategic forums. The common man gets to contribute little towards the cause, due to lack of direction and ideas. The preceding campaigns were - ’Championing a world without caste’; ’Championing a world in which no one suffers from the disability to communicate’; ’Education for All’, ’Participative Governance’, and the last ’Walk When You Talk’ - addressed subjects such as Caste War, Disability to Communicate, Education, Democracy and Health, respectively.

Pratik Babbar will be doing one more film with Rohan

Pratik Babbar, who was missing from the film scene after Jaane Tu..., has signed on a number of films. He will be working with Rohan Sippy and Abhishek Bachchan for his next film.

Rohan’s film is about drug trafficking in Goa where Abhishek plays a police officer who is out to bust the drug racket. To prepare better for the film, the actors are studying narcotic neurosis and characteristics of criminals.

Both Rohan and Abhishek felt that Pratik would be very suitable for the role, as they wanted a fresh face. Pratik will be doing one more film with Rohan as he signed a two-film deal with the producer. Rohan has confirmed the news.

Meanwhile, Pratik has also signed on My Friend Pinto, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Saif Ali Khan’s home production. Looks like this young fellow has no time to lose!

Abhishek Bachchan wearing a white kurta pyjama in PAA

Costumes play a very important role in any Bollywood movie and a lot of detailing and attention is always given to the costumes used in these movies. Such is the case in Balki’s next ’Paa’ as well.

A major portion of the movie shows Abhishek wearing a white kurta pyjama, mainly because Abhishek Bachchan is playing the role of a politician. "Abhishek plays a young forward thinking politician who follows in the footsteps of his father; played by Paresh Rawal" explains Balki.

In fact to ensure that the clothes worn by the young actor were spotless; Balki even ordered 10 sets of the same kurta pyjama to be made! However the irony here is that in the remaining 10% of the movie Abhishek has over thirty costume changes!

Bachchan junior however doesn’t seem to mind the limited wardrobe he has in the movie, "It was a welcome change to not have so many different costumes. And most importantly it was the requirement of the film", he said.

’Paa’ is a sensitive story about the relationship between a father and son who is suffering from Progeria. The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan.
