Madhavan wife can't stop raving about his look in his last film 'Teen Patti'

madhava

R. Madhavan has often got critical and commercial acclaim for his films but this time he has a new fan. The actor’s wife can’t stop raving about his look in his last film ’Teen Patti’.

Madhavan’s wife Sarita, who is a big Justin Timberlake fan, sings pop hit ’I’m bringing sexy back’ to him since she thinks his look in ’Teen Patti’ was very hot.

’Sarita keeps singing ’I’m bringing sexy back’ to Madhavan. It’s her way of sweetly teasing him. She absolutely loves his look in the film,’ said a source.

Madhavan played six characters in the film -- a casanova, an Italian, a high-end party goer, a slum dweller, a professor and a thug.

Actor Madhavan is happy about 3 IDIOTS response

zrtn_00

3 IDIOTS has taken an extremely positive start all over and is all set to be the biggest grosser of the year. While usual suspects like Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan have walked away with top honours, others like Madhavan and Sharman Joshi haven’t been pushovers at all. In a film that required each of the three ’idiots’ to enjoy equal footage right through the narrative, Madhavan has proved that there was actually a role of substance for him. No wonder, he is ecstatic about the response to the film and his act and is happy about 2009 which had 13B beginning it all and 3 IDIOTS taking it to conclusion.

With the kind of response that 3 IDIOTS has fetched, is it now the most special Hindi film ever for you?

Right from the moment I signed the film, it was the most special Bollywood outing for me. I always wanted to work with Raj Kumar Hirani. It wasn’t because he had given two super hits in a row but because I had heard legendary tales about him as a director. I have seldom seen someone who is so unanimously popular. He is a great human being and honestly, I am a sucker for nice people.

It is also being said that Hirani-Madhavan collaboration was pretty much due and that too from your TV days. Is that a fact?

Yes, that was actually the case. In fact when 3 IDIOTS was in an inception phase, I had gone to him and asked if he could please consider me for the project. I was in for a pleasant surprise when he said that he was looking forward to working with me since my TV days. Did you know that originally Munnabhai was planned to be made in a TV series format and I was supposed to work with Raju? This was around 10-12 years back. It couldn’t materialize then but call it a strange twist in the tale; I am now working with him in 3 IDIOTS.

With you being the only actor from down South who has been around in Bollywood for so many years, have you gone on to prove that if an actor is good enough, there isn’t any bias when it comes to the language?

Honestly speaking, my intent has never been to prove that a South Indian actor can make it in Bollywood. Really, those thoughts have never crossed my mind because to do that was never my objective. It’s not that the Hindi speaking audience finds me as an alien. I have been earlier accepted on TV and now I am glad that this has continued with my films too. I have been consistently getting A grade movies which is a great feeling. But no, it isn’t like I have achieved something that I was trying to veer towards. That was never the case.

Madhavan is unperturbed by the Aamir Khan hogging the limelight

Aamir Khan is making waves by promoting upcoming film ‘3 Idiots’ in innovative ways. But co-star R. Madhavan is unperturbed by the actor hogging the limelight. In fact, he admits that the film is being sold on the superstar’s name and he has no problems with that.

‘Aamir is the biggest star; so it would be foolish to think that the focus will be entirely on you when he is in the film. We are selling ‘3 Idiots’ on his name,’ Madhavan, who had teamed up with Aamir in the hit film ‘Rang De Basanti’, told IANS.

Aamir has launched a game where one has to spot the Bollywood star who will travel across the country in different get-ups in two weeks. His travels have so far taken him to Varanasi, Madhya Pradesh’s Chanderi district, former cricket captain Sourav Ganguly’s home in Kolkata and Jaipur.

‘However, the fact is that the film is called ‘3 Idiots’ and I’m one of the three; so my presence is obviously felt,’ said Madhavan.

Releasing Dec 25, the film also stars Kareena Kapoor and Sharman Joshi. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, it is about two idiots - Sharman and Madhavan - who are in search of the third idiot, played by Aamir.

The 39-year-old actor said it was wonderful working with Aamir again.

‘It was great getting back with Aamir and Sharman after ‘Rang De Basanti’. We stayed together in a hostel during the shoot of the film and had a great time. Aamir is an outstanding friend and a very loving person. He pursues things till perfection. I have learnt a lot from him,’ he said.

The actor, who was an engineering student, refrained from speaking about his role in the film, but said it resembles his own life.

Talking about ‘Munnabhai’ director Hirani, Madhavan said: ‘He is the most chilled out director I have ever worked for; he is amazing and makes an actor so relaxed on the sets.’

So, does he feel that ‘3 Idiots’ has the potential to beat the ‘Munnabhai’ series directed by Hirani?

‘Of course. ‘3 Idiots’ has the potential to beat all films,’ he said.

Madhavan, who has earlier featured in films like ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Guru’ and ‘13B’, is also looking forward to Leena Yadav’s ‘Teen Patti’, which stars Amitabh Bachchan and Hollywood veteran Ben Kingsley.
